Guys!
Ok, it's been horrible here and all of a sudden today it's BEAUTIFUL!!! Must be mother natures April Fools for us. Amazingly we had snow last week, unheard of, and yesterday I woke up to marble sized hail laying on the ground .
All the horses are so ready for this change and they can't wait for more sunshine. Shorty is inside right now though, she has a bit of mud fever on her back legs and I don't want it getting any worse. Her and Nitro are in and we put up temporary paddocks lastnight for them. Nitro thinks it's great to be able to go in and out, he did it over and over and over and over...lol.
I'm hoping to be able to give Nitro a through bath this weekend (weather depending that is) and if I'm successful, I will get pictures of him to post. He's growing like a weed! Almost 500lbs., 13.1 at the withers and almost 13.2 at the rump. His biggest problem right now is that he is READY to be gelded! Can't wait for that to be done and then I'm tossing him out with Buggy to learn some manners, he's become quite the little brat with the other horses over the stall divider
Hotrod, Lacey, and Sweetie are just hanging out happy to see the sunshine. Lacey is being left open this year so she can have a break. I'll be starting her undersaddle as soon as the weather clears up for more than a couple of days.
Buggy is bred and we'll have the vet out soon to palpate for conformation. If she took she should be due next February, and I'm very excited!
Amyjo and I took Sweetie and Shorty for a short ride on Sunday. It was so nice to get out on horseback!! Sweetie was a pistol for Amy though, gotta work on that. Shorty just plowed along, though she almost tossed me when the last minute decision was made to jump the little ditch!!! Lost my sunglasses and a shoe, but stayed on... ;D I will have to post pictures of Sweetie with Amyjos new saddle all wrapped, she truely is the only horse I could wrap a gift on. It's adorable, she just stood there with a wrapped saddle on her, sniffed it, decided she couldn't eat the wrapping paper, and went about eating her hay. Such a good girl. Amyjo got a kick out of it too!
Well, that's it for now folks. Hope everyone is getting beautiful weather!! Take care and watch for pictures on our next post!
