Ok, so first of all here is our view on calling us in an emergency or foaling situation.
***If you see a mare in labor and you don't see us..... CALL!!!
Now with that said, here are some helpful hints:
*Our stall doors open into the stall, if it's open, we're there.
*We won't always go right into the stall during a mare’s labor unless she is having a problem.
*If in doubt, CALL!! I don't mind getting calls at any hour of the night, better safe than sorry!!
**If you see a horse in trouble in a stall, any trouble that might cause harm or signs of colic or illness...... CALL!!!
We try to keep a close eye on our horses but everyone misses things sometimes and we can't always be around to see it.
As far as the foal alert buttons..... If you hit the alert, you hit the alert. I'm sure there are good intentions when you hit it, I would rather it be a false alarm than no alarm at all and something happen.
*We have the alert buttons on our page so that people can hit it, we're not going to get pissed off because someone inexperienced hit the button and sent out a false alarm. Maybe that person saw something that they truly thought was alarming, in advance, we thank you for being observant.
*If it is a false alarm, we will post that it was and if there are questions we are always happy to answer them.
BARN RULES:
We are not beginners, we are experienced at taking care of horses being pregnant or not.
If we do something that you don't agree with, you are welcome to Private Message us, but DO NOT post it on the board, all that does is make people defensive and start arguments.
This board is to open our home to you and share our ups and downs with you. Hopefully someone will learn something watching, maybe not.
Opinions are one thing, outright inappropriate comments are another! If you do post something that is inappropriate, IT WILL BE DELEATED and you will be warned.
If it continues YOU WILL BE BANNED!!! We have not made this a private board and don't intend to unless problems arise. That said, here is the basic rule......
IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU SEE, CLICK THE LITTLE RED X AT THE TOP RIGHT OF YOUR SCREEN!!!
We hope that your experiences here are good ones. We are happy to have you all here sharing in the joy of horse ownership and births and look forward to hearing from you. Please keep in mind though that sometimes heartbreaking things happen. Horses get sick, foals struggle, and battles are sometimes lost. So far we have been very fortunate, but we have had our down times. Please remember to be respectful in these times. When we are ready to talk about it, we will. If something happens and we shut the cam off, don't make a million calls to us!! We will post when things clear up or when we get a chance. I know how hard it is to sit on the other side, it's annoying, stressful, and very tough to not call, but PLEASE don't! As soon as news is available we will let you know!
And with all that taken care of, I say THANK YOU to everyone here. We are very excited to have you with us and look forward to a wonderful time!
